First Post-Partum Race

Today was my first post-partum race and I finished the 14k in 1:13:54, faster than last year! Mind you, last year I was 6 wks pregnant, nauseous, and it was cold, windy, and snowy, so, you know, not that amazing. My goal, because I'm still quite slow, was to be below a 9 minute mile so I easily beat that, averaging 8:31 min/mile! Because I underestimated my speed I started in the 2nd corral, with J up in the 1st, but barely finished after him- in fact, my chip time ended up being 25 seconds faster than his. Yup, it has been a good day.

Ok, and now on to weight issues. Ironically, my hips and waist are quite close to being back to normal- my thighs, and arms, however, well, they remain shrouded in fluff.... that seems to be where my remaining baby weight is hiding. With all of the running, squats, and weight training I'm doing I know there is muscle under there... somewhere.... I guess it just might take 10 months or so to show through. Oh well. I'm happy with my fitness level and losing a bit of inch here and there a little bit at a time. That seems to be what my body does.
