Now let's talk about how she got her name. For years before there was even the slightest prospect of having kids I always thought I would name a daughter 'Eva.' But then my cousin named his daughter 'Ava' and though we may never meet her (she lives in Western Canada), I didn't want to be accused of copying. We also considered the names 'Natascha' and 'Catherine' but in both cases I knew girls with those names that I didn't like and just couldn't get past it. This being our second and final child, we wanted to go with names that were at least somewhat familial. Hence, Josee, (pronounced Jozay) the female, French-Canadian, name that comes from her dad's side. Since she has had the misfortune of getting both a birth certificate and passport that read "Jose'e" I kinda wish we would have foregone the accent even if it meant that technically her name would be pronounced "Jozee." We may try to remedy this in the future especially because I fully expect people to call her Jozee/Josie and am ok with that - I like that name too. Ok, so her middle name. I wanted to pay tribute to my mother, who is awesome, and whose middle name is Emily. Unfortunately, again, I have known too many Emilys I didn't like so I went online to see if I could find an acceptable variant. I found that "Ema" (though prounced Eema, we pronounce her name Emma) was a Spanish, Portuguese, and Czech variant of Emily. Sweet. I had always preferred the one-m spelling anyway! So there you have it - our little Snugs.
Since I hardly ever post I'll jot a quick note about other aspects of our lives - still running around 25 miles a week with the long run being up to 10 miles. We have also started p90x and I went back to the masochist's class on Satruday (Snugs did very well at the childwatch, thankfully.) Despite all of this I have not lost any weight though I have lost a bit in the inch department which I supposed is more important. Frustrating yes, but I have no choice but to try to be patient. While I'm nursing I just can't do any crazy dieting and my body seems to like to be fat. I keep reminding myself that it has only been 3 months and considering this I look pretty ok. At least my tummy is flat.
Nadia as my first-born, drives me a little nuts most days, but she really amazes me others. Today, for instance, she ploughed through the Mother Goose book, showing me how she has many or even most of them memorized. She may have a hard time sitting still but man, that girl has a memory!
