8 Months

Happy 8 months, Josee! I know, I missed 7 - I suck.

This kid is now getting into everything and she's not even doing a proper crawl. She uses two elbows and one leg (seriously, the other leg remains straight and stiff and does nothing to propel her) to drag herself from room to room. Here you see her grabbing the wooden stick that sits in the patio door track as added security. It is her new favorite thing and a highly gross thing for a baby to be sucking on so I try my best to keep her away from it. Nadia, fortunately, is always happy to tell on her, screaming, "SNUGS IS GETTING INTO MISCHIEF!!!" (I think Nadia has forgotten completely her real name.)

Since we didn't have the type of flooring/house in Sicily where we could just put Nadia down and let her go, it's hard to say if she would have been this destructive, I mean, curious, at this age. I do know that she was more afraid of things/cautious as a baby so I'm guessing though we might have saved ourselves from a few mishaps, restricting her movement, she likely would not have been such a handful as a crawler. Fortunately for us, Josee does not seem to be leaping over gross motor skill milestones as early as Nadia and probably won't walk at 9 months like she did. Phew. I can't even imagine how my days are going to be once Snugs is walking. I mean, seriously. We're going to have to become those hyper-baby-proofing type people to ensure she doesn't, you know, pull out knives, and such.

They do have one thing in common so far and that is that they are great eaters. Josee isn't crazy about peas, but she'll eat them, and everything else we've tried so far, she is quite happy to consume. Adding in a lunchtime meal seems to be helping her have a longer afternoon nap (she is down to two naps a day, the morning one being anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour and the afternoon, on a good day, 2 hours), which is of course a good thing! She is super easy to put down at night and sleeps until about 7 with just one wakeup at around 3:30. Not too shabby, especially considering the first six months of bull-ish.

Still no teeth, but I expect them very soon......
